Tracing the Rails

Welcome to 'Tracing the Rails', a captivating documentary series that invites viewers to journey through the heart of Sussex’s railway heritage.

This series started filming in December 2023 and is currently filming Episode 2, illuminating the fascinating history of the now vanished Shoreham to Horsham railway line, affectionately referred to as The Steyning Line, exploring its past and profound impact on the people and the region.

Join our host, Stephen Cranford, acclaimed from BBC Radio Sussex, as we uncover hidden stories, engage with local communities, and reveal visuals of the once-thriving Steyning Line. Expertly directed by Chris Kirk and produced by Lou Partridge and supported by Mike Jaimes, who are proud to be joining forces with Stephen.

Each episode of 'Tracing the Rails' will be a blend of historical depth and contemporary insight, designed to enchant both railway enthusiasts and history buffs alike. Dive into our journey to experience the rich tapestry of Sussex's railway past.
